MBA Marine Life Education Trainee
The Marine Biological Association (MBA) are offering a 28 week placement within their education team. Trainees will receive a Â£140 per week bursary (+ training budget to attend relevant training courses during the placement).
The trainee will learn through participating in a wide range of activities including:
â€¢ Assisting with online/ teacher resource development
â€¢ Assisting with planning and undertaking school workshop activities and workshops on the shore and in-doors at venues around the country -travel and nights away will be required
â€¢ Help with public events and school activities
â€¢ Assisting with school and public education activities and general website resource development
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how the traineeship will benefit them in their future career development and must be keen and willing to learn. They will also have:
â€¢ Full, clean driving licence
â€¢ Ability and willingness to travel around GB and stay away from home for several days at a time
â€¢ An interest in and/ or basic knowledge of marine life
The following would be an advantage but are not essential:
1. Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with school children and other audiences.
2. Experience in the use of standard software packages, e.g. the MS Office suite.
3. Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, member of the MBA
4. Working within a team
5. Knowledge of marine habitats and ecology, including plankton
6. Knowledge of offshore renewable energy, especially wind energy
